NewsNeurAxon Announces the Appointment of David Brand to Its Board of DirectorsWALTHAM, MA. March 11, 2008 – NeurAxon Inc., a developer of next-generation pain therapeutics, today announced the appointment of David Brand to the Company’s Board of Directors. Mr. Brand was most recently President and Chief Executive Officer of Cardiokine, Inc., where he led strategic and organizational development, multiple private financings and most recently a significant co-development and commercialization agreement with Biogen Idec. He also serves on the Board of Directors at InteKrin Therapeutics, Inc. “David Brand’s 30 years of global pharmaceutical experience in product development, strategic marketing and operational management will be a tremendous asset for NeurAxon,” said Lawrence Bloch, MD, JD, CEO of NeurAxon. “We are pleased to welcome David to the Board of Directors as we initiate Phase 2 clinical trials for NXN-188 and continue to advance the rest of our pipeline of internally generated product candidates for the treatment of serious pain indications.” “NeurAxon is the clear leader in science and drug development for pain therapeutics targeting nNOS, a novel but well validated mechanism for the treatment of pain. From 1983 to 1990 Mr. Brand held VP positions at GlaxoSmithKline in marketing, business development, and regional operations in Asia, Europe and Latin America. Following this, David was responsible for launch activities for the GSK US organization as Business Unit Head for Gastrointestinal and Central Nervous System Products. He led the launch activities for Paxil and Kytril and well as numerous in-licensing, co-promotion, and co-development partnerships. Prior to joining Cardiokine in 2004, Mr. Brand headed up the anti-infective, metabolic and cardiovascular business units at GSK and led the launch of Requip, Avandia and Avandia extensions, and development of Augmentin ES/XR.
